Italian Ambassador to China, Massimo Ambrosetti, and Italian Consul General in Guangzhou, Valerio De Parolis, visited Fujian from May 6 to 8.
On May 6, Wang Jinfu, Vice Governor of Fujian Province, met with the delegation. As the year 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the China-Italy Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Vice Governor Wang highlighted the achievements Fujian and Italy have scored in business links as well as cultural and people-to-people exchanges. He called for stronger cooperation across the board to forge closer ties.
Ambassador Ambrosetti underscored the long history of Italy-Fujian engagement. He hoped that this year’s commemorations of the 700th anniversary of the death of Marco Polo, an Italian envoy of friendship to China, will help bring businesses, industries and people closer together for mutually reinforcing cooperation and win-win results.
The delegation also had talks with leaders of Xiamen City, Quanzhou City, Fuzhou City, and Xiamen University. During the visit, the Ambassador was interviewed for the program Fujian Interviews: In Conversation with Global Minds, sharing his ideas on beefing up cooperation.
