On September 2, an opening ceremony for the second group of Filipino students of the Soledad College was held in Fujian Normal University. Li Baoyin, Deputy Party Secretary of FNU, Chen Chuxin, Vice President of Fujian Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Lai Hairong, Vice President of FNU, and Xu Mingliang, founder of the Friends of the Philippines Foundation, as well as 83 students from the Philippines attended the ceremony.

Established in 2017 with the support of the Philippine Friendship Fund, Soledad College is named after Soledad Roa Duterte (Nanay Soling) not only to commemorate the great mother who has family ties with Fujian Province, a famous Filipino educator, philanthropist and social activist, but also to celebrate the legacy of courage, commitment and compassion left behind by her. With the aim of cultivating Filipino talents with a good command of the Chinese language of culture, it sets up a new model for educational cooperation between the two countries.
